Shizhu 石柱土家族自治县 — Yellow Lily Capital & Tujia Culture
Shizhu is Chongqing's most important producer of yellow lily bulbs (黄连), a traditional Chinese medicinal herb. The county's mountainous terrain and cool climate make it ideal for this valuable crop.
The county is predominantly Tujia, and the local Tujia culture — including distinctive architecture, cuisine, and festivals — remains vibrant and accessible to visitors.
Shizhu also offers attractive natural scenery, including the Huangshui Forest Park and the Dahe Reservoir.
A 1,550-meter-altitude forest park covering 50,000 mu. The park is one of Chongqing's most popular summer retreats, with temperatures averaging 20°C in July. Activities include hiking, horseback riding, and exploring dense forests of ancient trees.
