Changshou 长寿区 — Lake City & Ancient Buddhist Caves
Changshou (literally "Long Life") is named after a legendary local who supposedly lived to 800 years old. The district lives up to its name with clean air, beautiful lakes, and a relaxed pace of life.
The centerpiece is Changshou Lake (长寿湖), one of the largest artificial lakes in southwest China, surrounded by islands, wetlands, and holiday resorts. The lake area is popular for fishing, boating, and weekend escapes from urban Chongqing.
Changshou also preserves significant Buddhist heritage, with ancient cave temples dating back to the Song Dynasty.
A vast 65.5 sq km lake with 203 islands, known as the "Pearl of Chongqing." The lake is surrounded by lush hills and offers boating, fishing, cycling, and lakeside camping. The annual lotus flower festival (June–July) transforms the lake shores into a sea of pink and white. Several resort hotels line the lake.
