Qijiang 綦江区 — Ancient Wooden Villages & River Valleys
Qijiang preserves some of the most impressive traditional wooden architecture in the Chongqing region. The district's mountainous terrain has kept its ancient villages relatively isolated and well-preserved.
The most remarkable site is the Guzhen (古剑山) area, where ancient Buddhist temples sit alongside traditional wooden villages built on steep mountainsides. The district's rich cultural heritage also includes unique folk art traditions.
Qijiang's river valleys and karst landscapes offer hiking opportunities away from the crowds.
