Huludao 葫芦岛市 — Coastal Gateway & Ming Great Wall
Huludao sits on the Liaodong Peninsula's western coast, serving as a gateway between northeast China and Hebei. The city combines coastal scenery with historical significance.
The nearby Jiumenkou Great Wall section features a unique river-crossing wall — the only section of the Great Wall that crosses water.
The city's name means 'Gourd Island,' referring to its peninsula shape.
A unique section of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall that crosses the Jiujiang River via a 100-meter underwater wall. Soldiers once patrolled the riverbed between stone piers. This is the only water-crossing section of the Great Wall and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The mountainous setting is beautiful and far less crowded than Badaling.
