Shangluo 商洛市 — Qinling Forest Paradise & Eco Destination

Shangluo is Shaanxi's most forested city, sitting deep in the Qinling Mountains. With over 70% forest coverage, it's known as the "Natural Oxygen Bar" of Shaanxi. The city is one of the least visited in the province — perfect for travelers seeking quiet nature.

The Qinling Mountains here are home to rare wildlife including golden monkeys and takins. Hiking trails lead through ancient forests to hidden valleys. Shangluo is also famous for walnut production and traditional cattle farming that dates back millennia.

Jinsi Grand Canyon

Jinsi Grand Canyon 金丝大峡谷

A spectacular canyon system carved through ancient granite. The canyon stretches 20+ km with waterfalls, pools, and dramatic cliff formations. The name "Jinsi" (Gold Thread) comes from the narrow canyon passages. Multiple hiking routes cater to different fitness levels. Best visited in spring when wildflowers bloom along the trails.

Niu Bei Liang National Forest Park

Niu Bei Liang National Forest Park 牛背梁国家森林公园

A pristine forest park named for its resemblance to a cattle's back. The park covers the highest Qinling peak in Shangluo at 2,802 meters. Home to endangered Qinling golden monkeys and takins. The park offers cable car access plus hiking trails through bamboo forests and alpine meadows. A genuine wilderness experience within easy reach of Xi'an.

Muhuguan National Forest Park

Muhuguan National Forest Park 木王国家森林公园

Known for its spring杜鹃花 blooming season — thousands of acres of wild azaleas turn the mountains pink and red. The park features deep forests, clear streams, and traditional wooden villages. Less developed than other parks, offering a quieter experience.

Danjiang漂流

Danjiang漂流 丹江漂流

White-water rafting on the Danjiang River, one of the best rafting experiences in Shaanxi. The 8-km route passes through scenic valleys and calm sections. Safe for beginners but exciting enough for thrill-seekers. Best in summer when water levels are optimal.
