Tongnan 潼南区 — Flower Fields & Twin Rivers
Tongnan is Chongqing's westernmost district, sitting at the junction of the Fu and Qiu rivers. The district is famous for its vast rapeseed flower fields that turn the landscape golden yellow each spring.
The annual rapeseed flower festival (February–March) attracts visitors from across China, with boat tours through the flower-covered river deltas creating a surreal landscape.
Tongnan is also the birthplace of Yang Shen (杨闇公), an early Chinese revolutionary, and preserves several revolutionary history sites.
Every spring, thousands of hectares of rapeseed flowers bloom across Tongnan's river valleys and fields. Boat tours through the flower-covered waterways are the highlight — the bright yellow flowers reflected in the rivers create one of China's most photographed spring landscapes. The flower festival runs from late February to mid-March.
