Qujing 曲靖 — Gateway to Yunnan — Land of Waterfalls and Flowers
Qujing (曲靖) is Yunnan's second-largest city and gateway from the east. Famous for Jiulong Waterfall (Nine Dragon Waterfall) and Luoping's spring rapeseed flower fields that create a golden sea stretching to the horizon.
The city sits at the source of the Pearl River (Zhujiang), one of China's major rivers. Luoping's flower fields (February-March) attract photographers from across China.
Qujing is 130 km from Kunming (1.5 hours by train). Allow 2-3 days for waterfalls and flower fields.
One of China's most spectacular waterfalls, Jiulong (Nine Dragon) cascades 56 meters over 10 tiers. The waterfall is 110 meters wide at its broadest point. Viewing platforms at multiple levels offer different perspectives.
