Xining 西宁 — Gateway to Qinghai Lake & Tibet
Xining (西宁) at 2,275m is the gateway to Qinghai Lake and the Tibetan Plateau. The city blends Tibetan Buddhist culture with Muslim Hui heritage. Kumbum Monastery, one of Tibetan Buddhism's six great monasteries, is just outside the city.
