Zhumadian 驻马店 — Chaya Mountain — Ancient Heritage
Zhumadian (驻马店) in southern Henan sits at the crossroads of China's major transportation arteries, historically serving as a vital stop on the imperial post road. The city is perhaps best known as the home of the legendary Yue Fei, the Song Dynasty national hero whose spirit of loyalty and patriotism is still celebrated today at the nearby Yue Fei Temple. The surrounding area features the beautiful Chaya Mountain scenic area with its otherworldly rock formations, and the historic Runan ancient city which dates back over 2,000 years.
